April Showers Bring May....Hats.

It's currently drizzling in San Diego, that but that's not stopping DKS from working! As the title says, our hats finally should be out in May. Yes, we anticipated a launch this month, but due to the wait on our samples, May looks like the month!

Thanks to my partner for the shout-out in the previous entry: John is awesome, too!!

Speaking of Mr. Michael Jordan; I was talking to my friend about the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA, and how my Dad took me there when I was 8 years old. You're probably like "Joy, wtf do you know about the game?" - Little me, grew up playing basketball. My Dad played a lot, and would always take me to the courts when he played with his friends. My parents put me in teams when I was in grade school and all the way up to middle school. High school came around and I stopped playing it in a team. Of course, I still play basketball here and there when I get a chance.

I still follow the NBA but not as much as I did when I was much younger - the days of Bird, Jordan, & Johnson - thanks to my Dad. Yes, I was maybe 4 or 5 years old when these guys played, but I do remember them. When Bird retired, he had this basketball clinic in which was then called the Boston Garden. Of course, I went and had a great time.

Why am I writing about this? Well 1. I'm watching the Celts/Sixers game and 2. I miss the days when we were much younger and things didn't matter.

BUT since I'm much older and that's not the case anymore, it's all about finding your path. There's a reason John & I chose to start this company, and part of it is to make YOU, our future consumer, HAPPY about your purchase.

These aren't your typical fitted hats..........

So until the launch, keep reading!

Stay Posted Like Mark Jackson at Point Guard

Yeah, before I get anywhere.. Anyone Remember Mark Jackson used to post up like from half court. Pissed me off, lol I hated the Knicks by far one of the douchiest teams ever assembled. You had a huge gorilla play center, a slick talking over confident shooting guard named Jon Starks, Mark Jackson turning point guard to short center and other cats like Charles Smith who would not let the high top fade die.

Sorry, I'm a Jordan Fan so any team that messed with them made me hate them. Don't get me started on the early 90's Detroit Pistons or "Bad Boys", when Dennis Rodman is considered the normal guy you got problems. The best quote I ever heard was, "Bill Laimbeer was the best defensive tackle ever cept he played professional basketball"-Mike from Indiana. Anyways I bring up the poster child for posting up at any height to say that we at DiagKnowSys are nearly done with our designs for the line and that we are just waiting for our samples to come in.. so stay posted up like a lamp..

What the hell did Paul Wall mean? That lamps are posting up all the time.. I mean technically they are but then isn't the table its also on posting up?

Well I think we done designing.. AND I THINK OUR LINE SO FAR IS HELLLLLAA DOOOPPPEEE... it's like a urine sample from Lindsay Lohan. Need I say more,if i do it's that awesome people Add our myspace (www.myspace.com/Diagknowsys). What are you not awesome?!

I think your awesome, and I'm cool making u ever more awesome.. but only if you add the myspace. Adding the myspace also keeps you from getting cancer..

I heart randomness..

SD culture

Before I study..

The peculiar case of San Diego Hip Hop and Culture... so immediately what are you thinking bout JabbaWockees, bout Jayo Felony.. and for some even Mitchy Slick? It's not like that, with a community with such a proud history of being a rival city to San Fran and LA the SD hip hop scene seems to go in a unique 4 year spectrum.

The problem is, first and foremost.. alot of cats really from here Don't rep the city... It's a sad reminder that you aren't thought of as hard unless you from LA or from Compton or some slum in the So Cal Area. It is also a city with no real connection to its own people....

If you didn't know San Diego is a commuter city filled with phat cats who moved here for the beauty, college kids, and more importantly cats retired from the NAVY. There really isn't this common struggle for a lot of SD peoples unless they reside in another city such as Escondido or El Cajon. Then at that point it becomes more viable to rep the city they actually from... hmm the 4 year theory was something Norm Rockwell at Access Hip Hop told me in passing.

There are these huge gaps in SD hip hop history.. simply because at some point the culture died. We have some of the oldest heads in guys like Blame One, Mane One, all the Southeast heads and the like.. yet then theres this period of emptiness before we get to people like Son of Ran or Castle Creeps.

It sucks man, being from the newer new school you find that in SD what also sucks is the lack of feeling of community among rappers. People don't put other people on in SD thinking that the struggle should be hard... when truly it shouldn't be we should all be happy if one of us makes it.

There is also this huge gap in style as a lot of the Southeast heads or heads in general wanna be gangster rappers. The problem is since no1 thinks we're hood they have to be especially ghetto to survive. I mean the shooting at Urban Underground San Diego was simply because the normal heads were no longer coming out. IT WAS THE SD UNITY FEST FOR GOD SAKES?! Then, we lose another venue.. most of the cats now are hella progressive and you got some of the most original styles ever.

The fact that everyone is different allows for people to be totally different in SD but also hard to call anything the "SD" Style...

One of the biggest disses in SD History.. is first that Murs said something after years with working with ACCESS hip hop which helped launch his career that "SD is not a place for hip hop".. it was also echoed in the only time that Scribble Jam held tryouts in San Diego.. if you know for a fact.. yes i was one of the participants.

The problem we seek to rectify in SD is to create the type of unity we sometimes see at these underground SD hip hop events. Everyone got their own swagger but no one should feel like they don't have the city behind their back.

DiagKnowSys is working to sponsor different hip hop events from all of the elements of rhyming, djing, breaking and graff to show that hip hop is unified.

Everyone and their mama after seeing JabbaWockees make it wants to be a dancer now, which helped kill off many other elements in SD for hip hop. The sad reality experienced by them should help to let cats know... don't let the man control you.. control your own destiny.

I have mad pride for them but at the same time.. Do you have pride for SD? Do you have pride for the city?

U go out to frisco and you'll see mad heads wearing SF hats... but rarely do I even see anyone with an SD hat unless they reppin our culture at a hip hop event.

I get it.. SD is a collection of individuals.. but since when is it cool to live somewhere and act like u live somewhere else????

Yeah your originally from LA or Nor Cal or Boston.. but where do u live now? Where do you pay taxes?

IT's long gone.. and we at DiagKnowSys want you to help SD culture stay alive.. by reppin local SD BRANDS AND STORES..

shouts to Armory, 5 and a Dime, Willy's Workshop, and all the SD brands like model sitizen, armory clothes and the like.. trying to keep u aware that we got flavor...

Please if anything look to find some SD events and rep..

cuz if hip hop leaves the city..

Then hip hop is no longer a part of your life..

Patiently Waiting

DiagKnowSys is patiently waiting for their samples to come in.

Yes, a couple of samples are in the works, and we're definitely anxious for them to arrive! They look great on paper, on the computer, and WILL also look amazing when they're rockin' on our heads. Be ready!

Once we get the samples in, that's when the fun will begin. More designs will be made, and we're going to try to strike a deal with our supplier; then talk to some stores, and hopefully hit the shelves by early next month! (Maybe even by the end of April!)

John & I are wicked pumped about this venture, and hope YOU are too!

The DiagKnowSys for having a whack day.. adding us on myspace

The title above as they would say in Clone High has to be true cuz it rhymed!!! No words, can further be exemplified by this statement young Lincoln. Honest Abe himself is famous for wearing a hat, had it somehow been bullet proof maybe things would be different and we would see Lincoln smashing out the South with his bare hands. Stovepipe hat, aside WHY HAVEN'T YOU ADDED US ON MYSPACE!

Is it because you fear total and utter awesomeness? Yes, the future is scary but had Marty McFly never taken that ride do u think we would wonder if the future is as awesome as shown. I for one, spit in the face of neigh sayers and after the street fight that occurs which inevitably ends in me sending someone to the hospital I am a victor on so many levels.

See the Myspace is just the beginning, I mean yeah if your scared we won't have anything soon maybe you should wait a couple days until we post pictures but then WHAT IF WE HAVE A GIVEAWAY?! I am not saying we will, but I am also not saying we won't.. I'm saying what's the harm in adding us.

If you ask me, if your afraid of hats or somehow think hats make u look ugly what hats have u experienced?

WE are a home grown, non mutant, SD loving.. great product. And as John Pabustan himself, I give you my word it will be of the highest quality.

Now what do u have to lose?

Right now I'm actually kind of hopped up on sugar and smashing through homework... when I checked our myspace...

seriously 9 people!!! counting me and joy!!! Now considering that we have given out stickers.. did u take one and not add us?! FOR SHAME!!! lol, but on the real if you are my friend in real life or your not.. this is what is in my heart... and soul..

so without further ado..

IM ASKING ADD THIS MYSPACE..

FOLLOW US ON THIS TOO.. i write pretty often and I can say cool things once in a while...

We Like to Sing...When Consuming Beverages

This is going to be short & sweet.

I've just returned from the Shout House located in Gaslamp. I must say, it was a great night full of singing and laughter. There was a great crowd & the music was awesome.

The pianists even had awesome stickers they would give to those who went on stage. Which reminds me:

We're out of those stickers unfortunately - but we're about to get a new batch soon, so bug us for them!

Right now, we're in the process of getting some samples in. I know a lot of you are eager and wonder where the heck are our hats .... well, be patient, they're on their way.

Alright, I am going to call this a night. I'm about to pass out after a full night of singing. Keep checking out blog/myspace. (myspace.com/diagknowsys). Goodnight!

THEY HAD A BEASTIE BOYS GAME!!!

Yesss... I am not lying.. after doing some research on one of my favorite rap groups, apparently Kaneko in early 1992 offered them a game that they would just put their name on that would feature the infamous Beastie Boys. It was a beat em up in the fashion of final fight, or a game where u ran across the screen and hit things for an inordinate amount of levels. It was never okayed cuz pretty much it was a game that they never helped develop.. From what I see the game looks phat...

Anyways, the real reason I put this up is to remind people of hip hop back in the day.. One of the first people ever to rock caps on stage.. we're the Beasties..

U may say Run DMC and LL but they wore Kangols...

AD Rock and Mike D made it popular for white kids to wear caps forward and act like their life was a frat party...

but pretty much I was always into the way Ad wore his cap forwarded but pulled the bill up almost centering his face..

yea that sounds kinda gay.. but I noticed.. SUE ME!! We at DKS want kids to have the freedom to rock caps the way that makes them feel comfortable..

the DKS formula of having the dope ish on the back is not to say.. you can't be hella original.. but really your cap says alot about you..

whether forward, backward, sideways.. we all got a story..

for me.. I just never liked rockin the hat forward.. and I actually never liked wearing it straight backwards either.. it always seemed to tight.. and I wasn't for conformity..

I rock mine to the side tellin u I'm an individual.. plus i think it makes me look doper...

We want our Fam to experiment.. Rock the cap the way u wanna rock it..If u inside out wear it inside out lol if that's possible but just work u...
